Check-in date:

October 27, 2025

TL;DR: Developers lose flow when they alt-tab to fill a standup. Our new editor extension brings DailyBot check-ins into Visual Studio Code and Cursor to avoid tab switching or context loss. It uses a lightweight OAuth pairing (no admin keys) so each update is posted as you, everywhere DailyBot shows up.

I’m a developer, and like most of you, I live in my editor. Daily standups already drained focus; async check-ins were supposed to fix that. But even async meant breaking out of code to open Slack or the browser. More often than not, I’d miss a notification or skip entirely. That friction didn’t sit right.

DailyBot is meant to smooth work, so we built the check-in flow where devs already are: inside the editor.

DailyBot Check-ins, now in your Editor

The new VS Code + Cursor extension uses DailyBot’s public API but without the old admin-only key problem. Instead, you pair your account from chat:

1. Run the @dailybot pair command in Slack, Teams, Discord, or Google Chat.
2. Copy the token you get back.
3. Enter it in the extension when asked.

That’s it. Tokens are scoped to your identity, so when you submit, your update shows up everywhere DailyBot lives: chat, web, reports without requiring any complex admin intervention or new credentials to manage.

VS Code users can find the extension on the VS Code Marketplace. Cursor users can opt for the Open VSX Registry.

The extension pulls your DailyBot language preferences automatically (English, Spanish, Portuguese), so you don’t have to reconfigure anything.

What’s next

We’re planning on including editor-native reminders so you’ll get nudges to complete check-ins without leaving VS Code or Cursor. After that, we’ll look at other environments—IntelliJ, PyCharm, Xcode, just let us know, so more dev teams can stay focused where they work best.

Why this matters

For developer-heavy teams, async only works if it stays inside the workflow. With this extension, DailyBot finally does. Try it today and let us know what you think. We built it to scratch our own itch, but it’s for every dev team that cares about focus.
