A couple of weeks ago we pushed a rebuilt Jira integration live. If you missed the memo, here’s the quick-and-dirty tour of what’s new, why it matters, and how to flip the switch.
So… what actually changed?
One-step connect & board picker Fire up Settings → Integrations → Jira, hit “Connect,” pick the boards you care about, done. You don't need API tokens anymore, and your whole squad is mapped correctly from day one.
Chat-first commands in plain English Tell DailyBot things like “move MOB-221 to Done,” “push TQ-14 to next Friday,” or “what’s on my plate today?” and it handles the Jira plumbing for you. Natural language is the default voice here.
Real-time Jira activity in Check-ins Switch on “Activity Tracking” and your stand-up report now shows issues created, updated, or closed right next to blockers. No more “link please?” follow-ups.
Smart status mapping Jira columns auto-translate to To Do → In Progress → Done. That means “set TQ-17 to Done” always lands in the right column, even if your board has a dozen custom states.
A day in Alex’s workflow (real-world example)
8:45 AM – Alex pings DailyBot: "what are my tasks today?" and gets a tidy list of her seven tickets, sorted by due date. 11:02 AM – Dev Juan types push MOB-221 to Friday; the due date moves in Jira and Alex’s Check-in already reflects the change. 4:30 PM – Sprint retro time. The Check-in web report shows 42 issues to Done, 5 reopened, 17 comments, all pulled automatically from Jira. Eyes stay on insights, not on dashboards.
Why we bothered
Jira fatigue is real. Every extra tab is a chance to lose flow. Putting core actions in chat buys devs a few precious uninterrupted minutes per ticket.
Facts beat feelings. Check-ins now pull hard data: issue moves, reopen counts, release notes, so your stand-up isn’t just vibes.
Cleaner identity mapping. OAuth means each update is tied to an actual teammate, not “UNKNOWN USER.” Less detective work for PMs.
(Optional) In any Check-in, toggle Activity Tracking to start pulling Jira events automatically.
That’s it. No more webhook gymnastics from your end.
Power tips
Be lazy with wording. “Move TQ-55 to done,” “mark TQ-55 complete,” or “set TQ-55 as finished” all work.
Keep noise down with JQL. During setup you can filter events to specific projects or issue types so your #daily-updates channel stays signal-heavy.
Multiple boards? No problem. Connect each of them, you can query my tasks and get a cross-board digest.
What’s next on the roadmap
Send us a comment if you want us to prioritize any of this:
Issue creation from chat (beta invites this month)
Custom status mapping for those 17-column Jira power users
AI ticket summaries so non-technical stakeholders grok updates without opening Jira
Ready to give it a go?
Head to Settings → Integrations → Jira, connect your workspace, and tell the team they can finally update tickets without leaving chat. Less clicking. More shipping. Your dev team, and your sprint velocity, will thank you.
